Principal's Message

Dear Steele Lane Families,

It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the new principal of Steele Lane Elementary. This school year marks my 21st year with Santa Rosa City Schools, where I have served as a teacher, instructional coach, and school leader. Over the years, I have taught grades TK–6 and earned my Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Language and Literacy. I am also a nationally certified Dyslexia Specialist with extensive training in Orton-Gillingham, which has deepened my commitment to ensuring that all students have access to high-quality instruction and the tools they need to succeed.

Steele Lane holds a special place in my heart. In 2003, I began my career here as a student teacher, and now, two decades later, I am honored to return as your principal. Having grown up in Santa Rosa and attended many SRCS schools myself—including being a proud member of the very first graduating class at Elsie Allen High School—I feel deeply connected to our community and the families we serve.

As your principal, my goal is to build strong partnerships with families, collaborate with teachers to provide the highest quality first instruction, and ensure that every child thrives both academically and socially. I believe that when schools, families, and the community work together, our students are best prepared to grow into confident learners and engaged citizens.

I am truly looking forward to getting to know you and your children, and to working together to make this a wonderful year at Steele Lane. Thank you for welcoming me into your school family.

Kindly,

Rosie Muldoon
